Spiritual Growth in the Church

Posted on 16 Oct 2016, Pastor: Rev Hans Vaatstra

Manuscript of this sermon is available for reading services.

Reading: Westminster Confession of Faith 25.3, Ephesians 4:1-16 Text: Ephesians 4:11-13

The Bible is quite clear that its God’s will for our lives that we don’t remain spiritual babies but that we grow into spiritual maturity. God wants us all to grow up .We’re not meant to remain as children blown about by every wind of doctrine but we are to ‘grow up’ and become Christ-like.
That is the ultimate goal of spiritual growth; to approximate more and more the character of Christ. Elsewhere Paul wrote, “For those whom God fore-knew he predestined to conform to the likeness of his son so that He. Jesus Christ. might the firstborn among many brothers.
So then how does it happen how do we become mature in Christ?
Outline

3. A variety of gifts
Apostles, Prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers

Bible verse of the day (NIV)

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
