A warning and two encouragements

Reading: Philippians 3
Text: Romans 16:17-20
In the previous passage we were commanded to greet one another with a ‘holy kiss’. But in our text it’s clear that the holy kiss isn’t meant for everyone you will find in the church. Paul cautions us to exercise discernment and not to be taken in by the divisive or the scandalous. Faith in Christ and obedience is commended, but causing a brother or sister to stumble, majoring on minors and divisiveness is warned against. So we are encouraged here to be discerning and Berean like, to be wise in what is good and innocent in the practice of evil. And,… to keep the faith. There is an end goal in sight; the elimination of all evil. God will soon crush Satan under our feet.
